ST. LOUIS (KMOX)-The barricades are coming down near the site of last week’s downtown St. Louis steam pipe break. The latest test results are in and they show no sign of asbestos.
Residents in the area of the break on 11th street had been urged to keep their windows closed and stay off their balconies until all tests came back negative.
Small amounts of asbestos had been detected on surfaces in that area, but none had been detected in the air, where it would have been a health concern.
Crews from Trigen, the company that owns and operates the system of steam pipes that run under downtown, power washed the Lucas Lofts and Globe Democrat buildings one final time Tuesday.
