Mayor Slay Willing to Back-Off on Firefighter’s Pension Issue

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – Mayor Slay is apparently willing to back-off in the fight to trim firefighter’s pensions.

It’s because a Missouri House committee passed legislation that approves cuts to the pension funds and make firefighters put nine-percent of their yearly salary into the system.

The mayor said today he’d be willing to back off in exchange for the immediate cuts.

The action was taken by the Missouri House Retirement Committee.

It now heads to another committee before moving to the house floor. The bill is sponsored by GOP House member Mike Leara.
