MetroLink Train Strikes Car In Metro East

WASHINGTON PARK, Ill. (KMOX) – Two people were rushed to the hospital following an accident involving a MetroLink and a car in Washington Park, Illinois.
It happened shortly after 5 a.m. Monday near the juncture of St. Clair Avenue and 37th Street.
Authorities say an eastbound MetroLink train struck the passenger side of a car trying to cross at that intersection.
The driver of the car along with the train’s operator were taken to an area hospital.
There’s no word on their conditions a this time.
Officials say none of the train’s seven to 10 riders were injured.
The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department and East St. Louis police are investigating.
