Tornado Hits Boeing Kansas Plant

WICHITA, Kan. (KMOX) — A Boeing aviation plant in Kansas has been hit by a Saturday night tornado.

Sedgwick County officials say damages could be as high as $283 million after a tornado struck the southeast part of Wichita.

The storm caused damage to a mobile home park and McConnell Air Force Base.

A Boeing Company spokesman says the Wichita plant took a “direct hit.”

Emergency management officials said that at nearby Spirit AeroSystems, most of the buildings were damaged.

Most of the planes at the air base were flown out to safety well ahead of the storm.
