Ammonia Leak at Ice Cream Factory

BRENTWOOD, MO. (KMOX) – Some 40 workers were evacuated from the North Star Ice Cream Plant in Brentwood tonight because of an ammonia pipe leak.

Fumes caused some workers to have eye irritation, but otherwise there were no injuries.

Fire crews vented the building and repair crews are working to fix the pipe.

Ammonia is used in the refrigeration process at the ice cream factory.
