EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (KMOX) – A candlelight vigil has been planned for Wednesday in memory of 19-year-old Lauren Petersen and 21-year-old Lacy Siddall who died in an apartment fire in Edwardsville.

The two Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville students were childhood friends.

The fire broke out around 3:45 a.m. Sunday on the second floor of their off-campus apartment on the 600 block of Hillsboro Avenue.

A student organization called A Cross Between Campus Ministry is holding the vigil on the quad on the SIUE campus.

It begins at 8:00 p.m. and is expected to last between 30 and 45 minutes. It’s open to the public.
