JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMOX) – An “unusual” bill in Jefferson City that drew local attention on KMOX’s Charlie Brennan Show in March is now drawing national attention on Comedy Central’s The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.
“Did you know that Missouri gun owners face ramped discrimination every single day,” announces The Daily Show’s anchor Jon Stewart.
“No? Its because they don’t.”
The bill which passed the Missouri House last month, 115 to 36 makes it illegal to fire an employee if they own or shoot guns.
In the report that aired Thursday night, Republican State Representative Wanda Brown told Daily Show correspondent Aasif Mandvi about why her bill is very important. But when asked for examples to back up her claims she fell flat.
Brown replied: “You know I’d rather not get in to examples.”
Mandvi: “Right, but you must have thousands, can you give me a few.”
Brown: “This is preventative. I’d like to protect the second amendment and everyone in the future.”
Brown represents a district just over a hundred miles southeast of Kansas City.
