ST. LOUIS (KMOX)-If someone calls you and tells you your computer is not running right and they have what you need to fix it, don’t believe them.
That’s the advice from the Better Business Bureau which says people around the country, mostly seniors, have been getting such calls which come from scam artists.
Spokesman Chris Thetford says the first clue is that you got the call in the first place, “Nobody is going to contact anybody, in particular senior citizens, and tell them they are having a computer problem. If you are having a computer problem you’re going to know that and you’re going to reach out to someone to help you fix it, they’re not going to get a hold of you.”
Thetford says if you get such a call get as much information as possible from the caller, tell them you want to do some research into them and then call the police or the BBB.
