ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Police say a man has admitted shooting his former girlfriend and her mother, then setting fires inside their south St. Louis apartment.

Three people died in the blaze on South Jefferson, Saturday night, including a 10-month-old boy the suspect fathered with his former girlfriend.

The circuit attorney’s office filed a dozen charges against 23-year-old Eric Lawson of St. Louis, Sunday, including three counts of first-degree murder. The list also includes arson, armed criminal action, first-degree assault, and endangering the welfare of a child.

Police say Lawson told them he shot 22-year-old Nreiana Ray and 50-year-old Gwendolyn Ray in the head. Firefighters found the women a short time later.

Police say 10-month-old Aiden Lawson died at a hospital from fire-related injuries.

A three-year-old girl survived the fire. She’s receiving treatment for smoke inhalation and is in critical condition.
