ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The head of Washington University’s Center for Human Nutrition was part of an HBO documentary that premiered in St. Louis.

The film is “The Weight of a Nation.” Dr. Samuel Klein is one of the researchers featured. He says they are learning more about obesity and the greater threat to children.

“If you are an obese child, when you become an obese adult you will be much more unhealthy as an obese adult than an obese adult who was thin as a child.” said Dr. Klein.

He calls it a “wave of obesity” that is projected to progress through the ages.

Doc. Klein says stopping that wave would take a sea-change in attitudes in the community, the health care industry, academia, government even the workplace.

Wash U is currently conducting a series of studies in obesity and is seeking volunteers.

He says volunteers are paid and can find out more by calling 314 362 1000
