City Hall, Pastor Clash Over Homeless Camp

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – St. Louis City Hall and local homeless advocate Reverend Larry Rice appear to be on a collision course again over how to house the homeless.

The city is leveling the homeless settlements along the river in north St. Louis while Reverend Rice says he’s considering a new homeless tent city on land near the Botanical Garden and Interstate 44 in south St. Louis.

City officials say the homeless don’t need tents or plywood shacks since housing in motels and apartments is available.  The city provides housing vouchers.

City officials say if Reverend Rice does try to create another campsite, it too will be cleared.
