No Beaches Closed Due to E. Coli at Lake
LAKE OF THE OZARKS (KMOX) - The Lake of the Ozarks is ready for the Memorial Day crowd this weekend, without the e.coli concerns of years past.
The all clear comes from Department of Natural Resources. Spokeswoman Renee Bungart who says water samples taken over past weeks show low levels of e.coli.
She attributes that to less runoff due to less rainfall and some precautions like signs that read “don’t feed the geese.”
“We want to reduce the number of geese because they can have an effect on the number of e.coli results” said Bungart.
Two beaches are closed however: (not because of e-coli) The Lewis and Clark State Park Beach is undergoing flood repairs and the spillway at the Trail of Tears State Park is undergoing repairs.
