JACKSON, Mo. (AP) — If you are traveling by car over the holiday weekend, you might want to avoid a stretch of Highway 55 in Missouri. Thousands of bargain hunters, will be driving slow and pulling off the road in the southeaster part of the state on Memorial Day weekend.
It’s known as the 100-Mile Yard Sale, a series of rummage sales stretching from Jackson to Kennett along Highway 25. The sales began Thursday and continue through Monday.
How popular is it? The Missouri Department of Transportation told the Southeast Missourian that traffic typically increases 50 percent on the Saturday of the sales over a normal Saturday.
