ST. CHARLES, MO. (KMOX) – A man was severely burned in a gasoline explosion while filling his boat with gas at the North Shore Marina in St. Charles County. The Missouri Water Patrol identifies the victim as 51 year old Paul Kribs of Chesterfield.
The explosion and fire engulfed his boat, threw him into the water, damaged two other boats and damaged a fourth.
Kribs was taken to Mercy Hospital and was said to have burns over most of his body.
At the Boathouse Restaurant, Richard Luttrell says witnesses said the man was thrown into the water and had to swim to shore where he waited for paramedics.
Luttrell and others had to coral the burning boats for firefighters because they started to drift toward a main dock full of even more boats
