BELLEVILLE, Ill. (AP) - A Belleville man is accused of killing seven kittens with a BB gun.

The Belleville News-Democrat (http://bit.ly/KPgkdQ) reports that St. Clair County prosecutors charged 46-year-old Terry Roy on Friday with a felony count of aggravated cruelty to animals.

Authorities allege that Roy killed the kittens and then took them to a park where they were found by a woman walking her dog May 8.

The News-Democrat says Roy tried to turn the kittens over to an animal-control agency but was told that if no one claimed them within a week they would be euthanized. Witnesses told police that Roy then decided to kill them himself.

Roy does not have a listed home telephone number. Online court records do not show whether he has an attorney or not.
