ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – A search is underway in St. Louis for a 79-year-old man who went missing on an Amtrak train from Texas to St. Louis just over a week ago.

His luggage and his medications made it to Chicago, but he did not.

Relatives say 79-year-old Andrew Hochenreid was last seen aboard the northbound Amtrak Texas Eagle sometime after it left Little Rock.  The train usually arrives in St. Louis early the next morning and waits here for its scheduled departure time for Chicago shortly before 8 a.m.

Family members in Chicago say Hochenreid was not on the train when it arrived there. They speculate he may have left the train in St. Louis and could not find his way back to the station in time.

They say Andrew Hochenreid was planning to celebrate his 80th birthday with family in Chicago. He reportedly did not suffer from dementia and traveled frequently.

Hochenreid is white, 5-feet-6 and 150 pounds with gray hair.  St. Louis police have been alerted.
