JACKSON, Mo. (AP)- A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 25 for Clay Waller, the southeast Missouri man accused of killing his estranged wife.
Waller’s arraignment was Monday in Jackson. The Southeast Missourian reports that Cape Girardeau County Circuit Judge Gary Kamp set the preliminary hearing date and assigned Waller’s case to the public defender’s office.
Waller is charged with first-degree murder even though the body of Jacque Waller has never been found. The 39-year-old mother was last seen alive on June 1, 2011. The case has drawn national attention.
The couple was in the process of getting a divorce. Their triplets, now 6 years old, are living with Jacque Waller’s sister.
Waller is already serving a five-year prison sentence for threatening his wife’s sister.
