Burglar Interrupts Shower, Ends Up At Gunpoint

FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, IL (KMOX)-A Fairview Heights burglar found himself staring down the barrel of a gun after trying to break into a home while a woman was showering Thursday afternoon.

Police say that shortly after her husband left the home in the 9600 block of Old Lincoln Trail, the woman heard a loud banging and determined that someone was trying to get in the basement door.

After calling her husband, who called police, the woman activated her home panic alarm and then confronted the suspect on the driveway. The burglar tried to drive off, but his car got stuck in a wooded area near the driveway.

The woman then ran towards the front door but was pushed down by the suspect who was then met by the husband, who held him at gunpoint until police arrived.

The suspect,  28-year-old Steven Hood of East St. Louis, is charged with attempted burglary and battery.
