St. Louis, MO-(KMOX)–A South County man is hospitalized after a fire in his home Sunday afternoon.

The fire broke out in the man’s apartment in the 2800 block of Lemay Ferry Rd. around 2:00 p.m.

Melville Fire Department Assistant chief Dan Lafata says a man suffered serious burns and was  transported to Mercy Hospital.  The victim’s name and age have not been released.  Investigators believe the fire was started by smoking materials.
