BELLEVILLE, Ill. (AP) – Authorities in Belleville believe the deaths of two people found in a home are suspected accidental drug overdoses.

The Belleville News-Democrat reports police found the bodies of 24-year-old Christopher Bailey of Belleville and 26-year-old Mika Moore of Bethalto next to each other on the floor Sunday.

Deputy St. Clair County Coroner Dean Darnell says toxicology tests are pending. But he says he doesn’t suspect foul play.

Authorities say Bailey and Moore had a history of drug use.

The coroner’s offices in St. Clair and Madison counties say 27 people have died of drug overdoses in those jurisdictions so far this year. The newspaper says if that trend continues, the region could surpass 100 overdose deaths for the first time in at least a decade.
