JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP)- A conservative political group is ramping up pressure on Democratic U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill with a new round of ads on Missouri TV stations.
Crossroads GPS said Wednesday that has bought nearly $1 million of ads to run in the next two weeks. The ad buy is almost twice as large as anything that Crossroads GPS purchased in the past and raises its total spent in Missouri to $3.7 million during the past year.
The latest ad criticizes McCaskill’s support of the 2009 federal stimulus law and contends it resulted in wasteful spending.
A McCaskill campaign spokeswoman called the ad a desperate attempt by a secretly funded attack group to distort the senator’s record of opposing wasteful spending.
