St. Louis, MO-(KMOX)–Two people from Hillsboro are dead and a third is seriously injured following an early morning accident in Jefferson County.

The Missouri Highway Patrol reports it happened on Old Highway M, east of Lemay Ferry Road after 1:00 a.m.

The driver, 31-year old Joseph Davis and his passenger 57-year old Mathew Held both died, another passenger, 31-year old Brian Massey has moderate injuries. Investigators say the driver of an 18-wheeler was attempting to pull into a driveway when it was struck by Davis’ car.

The truck driver, 57-year old David Vanpelt sustained minor injuries.
