Downtown Club Zone Calmer

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – St. Louis police are asking neighbors and business owners along Washington Avenue downtown for reaction to the new police plan to keep under-21’s out of the club zone on weekend nights.

Both Friday and Saturday night, police blocked off the street and carded under 21’s trying to enter.

Neighbors say under-21’s have been a major problem on Washington Avenue recently, standing around outside the clubs and bars and impeding both street and sidewalk traffic.

This past weekend, police stopped east-west traffic on Washington between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. but, with barricades, allowed north-south traffic on cross streets to proceed.
