Driver In February Fatal Crash Had Meth In His System

CHESTERFIELD, Mo. (KMOX) –  Charges have been filed in connection with a fatal crash that occurred in Chesterfield back in February.

36-year-old Dale Kawamura was at the wheel of a car that smashed into a vehicle driven by Clayton Pfeiffer on February 21st.

Pfeiffer was killed, and a passenger in Kawamura’s vehicle was seriously injured.

Lab tests showed that Kawamura had methamphetamine in his system at the time of the crash.

He’s now charged with 1st Degree Involuntary Manslaughter, 2nd Degree Assault, and Felony DWI.

Kawamura is not in custody.

Police believe he’s currently in his home state of California, and the St. Louis County Police Fugitive Section will be responsible for his apprehension and arrest.
