ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Two St. Louis residents are now charged with stealing hundreds of dumpster hooks from across the city, and selling them as scrap metal.
The hooks are used to connect trash dumpsters to garbage trucks, and as more and more hooks disappeared they had to be replaced at a cost to the city of more than $11,000.
35-year-old Ladale Deangelow Lewis and 19-year-old Victoria Gibbs, who both live in the 2900 block of S. Jefferson, have admitted their roles in the theft of around 270 of the hooks.
They’re being held on one count each of felony stealing.
