ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - It’s a victory for a Soulard bar owner and a victory for green technology. The St. Louis Preservation Board voted to allow the Soulard Bastille Bar to put solar panels on the roof.
Board member Alderman Antonio French said “All indications are we are pushing toward green energy pushing toward this kind of innovation and this kind of entrepreneurial spirit.”
He says not only did the preservation board vote in favor of a variance but it voted to instruct it’s staff to work with different neighborhood organizations to work on new rules to accommodate new technology like solar.
French says this is not just a victory for green technology…but also for the bar owner who is a business person willing to invest in the city.
