Batteries Stolen from 35 Metro-East School Buses

COLLINSVILLE, Ill. (AP) — Police in Collinsville are trying to pinpoint who made off with batteries from nearly three dozen school buses.

St. Louis’ KSDK-TV reports the thefts from the 35 buses were discovered Tuesday morning by workers at the First Student lot.

The estimated value of the stolen batteries wasn’t immediately revealed.

The batteries weigh roughly 100 pounds and can be sold for $50 apiece at a recycling center.

Investigators say the lot was monitored by surveillance cameras.

Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call Collinsville police.
