ST. CHARLES, MO (KMOX)-Two alleged heroin addicts got more than they bargained for when they stole a tractor-trailer from outside the Red Roof Inn on Zumbehl Road early Wednesday morning.
The truck was carrying two thousand medical mice valued at $10,000.
Witnesses say they saw the two, identified as 30-year-old Dustin Maas of St. Charles and 23-year-old Mathew Haney of O’Fallon, break into the truck, which was left running because of the refrigeration needed to transport the mice.
The transport company used GPS to track the truck, which was stopped 18 minutes after the theft on I-70 in Bridgeton.
The mice were unharmed. Maas and Haney are in jail.
