ELLISVILLE, Mo. (KMOX) – Should public money go toward building a new hardware store? Officials want to hear from you on that subject tonight in Richmond Heights.
It’s another request for tax increment financing, or TIF, this time for a Menards hardware store near Hanley and Highway 40.
St. Louis County TIF commission member Mike Jones was against TIF for a Walmart in Ellisville, but was okay with money to redevelop the Northwest Plaza site.
The area is reported to be over capacity in retail and with no new shoppers a $19 million subsidy for a hardware store is debatable.
The meeting is at 7 p.m. at the Heights community center.
