HILLSBORO, MO (KMOX) – A former Calverton Park police officer is once again convicted of shooting his fiance to death.
The St. Louis Post Dispatch reports the Jefferson County jury reached the verdict Friday in the trial of 43-year-old Robert Brooks. Brooks had earlier been found guilty of killing 26-year-old Amanda Cates six years ago, but the state supreme court threw out the conviction, citing improper comments by prosecutors.
Brooks had claimed he shot Cates in self-defense, after struggling with her at their home in Crystal City.
