A man driving a stolen car has died when he slammed into a guard rail on Route 111 in Washington Park Saturday afternoon.

The crash occurred near the MetroLink tracks and police stopped the trains while they investigated.

Metro says a train did not hit the car. . .the car hit the guard rail near the crossing and stopped.

Metro used a bus bridge, buses operating around the Washington Park Station, until rail service could resume.

Police say the name of the man killed driving the stolen car is not yet known but officers do say the car was reported stolen around 9.am Saturday.
