Molina to Bereavement List, Holliday Named as All-Star Game Replacement

ST. LOUIS, Mo, (KMOX) – The St. Louis Cardinals have announced that All-Star catcher Yadier Molina has been placed on MLB’s bereavement list and catcher Bryan Anderson has been recalled from Memphis (AAA).

The left-handed hitting Anderson will wear uniform #16 and he is expected to be in uniform for tonight’s series opener with the Miami Marlins. Anderson, 25, was batting .210 with two home runs and 21 RBI in 64 games for Memphis this season.

Yadier Molina will be unable to play in the All-Star Game in Kansas City. The Cardinals’ left fielder, Matt Holliday has been announced as his replacement. Holliday, who had a batting average of just .215 in the month of April, has since raised his average to .318 on the season. This will be Matt Holliday’s 6th All-Star Game appearance.
