ST. LOUIS (KMOX) -Investigators are trying to determine if Friday’s death of an 8-year-old girl in the Blumeyer Housing Complex at Franklin and Grand, was heat related.
St. Louis Health Director Pam Walker tells KMOX the girl had a pre-existing medical condition and was splitting time between two apartments. Walker says both of those apartments, had working air conditioners, “There was one room that was not as cool as the others, but the temperature in the apartment was in the 70’s.”
Walker says the Medical Examiner’s office is conducting an autopsy, “What the M.E. will do sometimes is say that there was another underlying cause of death, that heat was a factor in.”
Walker says as is routine in child death cases, the Missouri Child Death Review Team has joined the investigation.
