KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP)- A 71-year-old suburban Kansas City man is charged with bank robbery.

In charging Raymond Paris on Friday, the U.S. Attorney’s Office alleged that he ordered two tellers at Kansas City bank to fill large envelopes with money on Thursday.

The Kansas City Star reported that one of the tellers tripped a silent alarm while bank employees filled the envelopes with about $8,500.

Prosecutors said Paris initially refused to leave his Sugar Creek home when Kansas City police confronted him later in the day. Officers placed a cigarette on his deck and arrested Paris when he left his home to get it.
