ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Military personnel returning from Iraq and Afghanistan often find it difficult trying to transition back to civilian life.
That includes finding a job, and helping to connect returning vets and future employers is an organization called “RecruitMilitary”.
They’re hosting their annual St. Louis Opportunity Expo for veterans Thursday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Chaifetz Arena on the campus of St. Louis University.
Robert Walker, events director and counselor for RecruitMilitary, says it’s clear that military personnel bring a lot to the table for potential employers.
“Because of their discipline, their dedication, their hard work, the fact they’re trainable,” Walker explains. “Their leadership abilities really make them great employees for any company.”
An added bonus, Walker says, is that the job fair is open to spouses of military personnel.
More than 300 job-seekers are expected to attend the event that will feature vet-friendly local and national employers such as Laclede Gas, Union Pacific Railroad, MasterCard Worldwide, the FAA and many more.
The event is being produced by RecruitMilitary in partnership with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
It happens from 11 am until 3 p.m. Thursday, July 12, at Chaifetz Arena, #1 S. Compton Avenue, on the campus of St. Louis University.
