Police Arrest Suspects in Collinsville School Bus Battery Theft
COLLINSVILLE, Ill. (KMOX) – Collinsville police have the men suspected of ripping off dozens of school bus batteries last month in custody.
25-year-old Danny Kelly of Swansea and 44-year-old Michael Kniser of Belleville are chardge with burglary.
Thirty-five batteries, weighing about 100 pounds each, were taken from First Student buses in late June.
Lt. Eric Zaber with the Collinsville police department told KMOX in June, that the thieves were after the battery’s core which can be sold for around $15.
The Metro East Auto Theft Task Force helped track down the culprits.
