Brush Fires Keep Crews Busy in Metro East

WASHINGTON PARK, IL. (KMOX) – Firefighters from two Metro East Departments battled a stubborn grass and brush fire today.

It broke out along Route 111 near I-64 after a train went through the area and may have sparked the blaze.

It smouldered for hours as firefighters from Washington Park and Fairmount Park continued to douse hot spots late into the afternoon.
