ST. LOUIS (KMOX)- U.S. News and World Report is out with its annual listing of the best hospitals in America. How did we fare in the St. Louis area?
President of Barnes Jewish Hospital, Rich Leikweg says out of 5,000 hospitals that they rank each year, we’re in a very elite group.
“This year we’re ranked 6th in the country,” Leikweg says. “Last year, we we’re ranked 11th. So, great movement on our part.”
That puts Barnes Jewish on the U.S. News and World Report Honor Roll for the twentieth year in a row. Barnes Jewish was also ranked in the top fifteen in 15 of 16 possible specialities.
For the St. Louis area, Barnes Jewish was ranked number one, Missouri Baptist number two, Alton Memorial number three and Barnes Jewish West County and St. Louis University Hospital tied for 4th.
Leikweg says Siteman Cancer Center was ranked as the tenth best cancer center in America.
“Most of our specialty areas are orthopedic, neurosciences, pulmonary medicine, cardiology, and heart disease,” he says. “All we’re ranked, and we were ranked nationally in each and every area.”
