ST. LOUIS (KMOX)-The owner of a St. Louis metal recycling company has become the first to be cited under the city’s new scrap metal ordinance.
Police say Gen-X Metal Recyclers at 3419 Gratiot, owned by 33-year-old Kenneth Fixman, has been conducting cash transactions and does not have the required electronic record keeping system.
Investigators say Fixman has also been operating Gen-X without a city business license.
They say the company has generated $1.8 million in revenue since it opened in February.
The city recently enacted the tougher law in response to widespread copper and metal thefts.
