UNION, Mo. (KMOX)- A two-year-old girl drowns in a neighbor’s inflatable pool after she and her twin brother walked out of their mobile home.

Union Police Sergeant Andrew Parker tells KMOX the toddler was found by her mother and her mother’s boyfriend. The twins got out of their home, while the boyfriend was sleeping.

“The mother was at work at the time of the incident,” Sgt. Parker says. “The boyfriend was awaken by another child in the home, and found that the two 2-year-olds were missing. He called the mother, who returned home from work within minutes and proceeded to check the area when they located the two-year-old female in the pool.”

Parker says the little girl was in 18-inches of water. It is not known for how long the children had been missing.

The mother has custody of the children. Once the police investigation is completed, it will be turned over to the Franklin County prosecutor.

So far, the boyfriend has not been charged.
