BELLEVILLE, Ill. (KMOX) - She not only violated her patients’ trust, she stole their identities.
That’s according to a federal indictment that charges 27-year-old Ashley Drummond of Belleville with identity theft.
U.S. Attorney Stephen Wiggington says Drummond was working in the radiology department of an unidentified southern Illinois hospital, where she stole information from hospital charts and computer records, mainly targeting elderly victims.
Drummond’s accused of slipping that information to an accomplice, who applied for new credit cards in the names of hospital patients.
The two then went on shopping sprees, according to the charges.
Drummond could face up to twenty years in prison and be fined up to $250,000 if convicted.
