ST. LOUIS (KMOX)- It’s only the beginning of the current heat wave, but five people sought medical help Monday. According to the City of St. Louis Department of Health the ages ranged from 33 to 83 years old, with four men, and one woman being cared for.
Doctors say patients were treated for syncope, heat exhaustion and dizziness. Three patients were admitted, one was treated and discharged, and one was still in the ER when the hospital was contacted.
Total heat-related cases for City residents since Thursday, June 28, are now 85.
The heat is not letting up anytime soon. Both Tuesday and Wednesday are expected to reach a scorching 107 degrees, with lows at 84 degrees.
Since June 1, from throughout the region, Cool Down St. Louis has received 21,000 calls for utility or cooling assistance, and they have already helped 9,600 regional residents, and installed 889 air conditioners.
