Man Charged with Assault After Smashing into Police Van

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) — A man has been charged after slamming into a St. Louis police vehicle early Thursday morning.

29-year-old Gerald Steed is accused of running a stop sign at a high rate of speed in the 28-hundred block of Marcus and crashing into a police van.

The police vehicle was sent airborne before smashing into a telephone pole and overturning. The officer had to be pulled from the wreckage, but escaped with a cut to his head.

Steed’s charged with assaulting a law enforcement officer.
