Sleeping Homeless Man Set on Fire in St. Louis

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) — St. Louis city police say their bomb and arson squad continues to investigate an early Friday morning fire involving a sleeping homeless person, but the incident appears to be “non-criminal.”

Officers say the victim, 40-year-old Louis Broadway told them he was asleep in an alley in the 39-hundred block of Illinois when a man came up, poured gas on him, then lit a match.

The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he is in critical, but stable condition with extensive burns.

The garage near where Broadway was sleeping also caught fire.

Police have no motive in the attack.
