ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) - St. Louis home sales are up, and so is price, according to President of the St. Louis Association of Realtors, Glenn Vatterott.
According to a 20-city real estate survey, the Case-Schiller report, nationally prices are up, but the number of home sales isn’t.
Vatterott says in St Louis in June prices were up, and the number of home sales rose by 8.5 percent compared to May. He says that’s a 7 percent jump form a year ago. In prices, June saw and 11 percent increase from May, and a 4 percent increase from a year ago. The average prices of a home in the St. Louis City and County district is just above $200,000.
He says this is still a good time to buy a home because rent rates are rising, and interest rates are dropping.
Looking forward, he says he expects trends to continue, even with uncertainty around the election and potential tax cliff in January.
