DES PERES (KMOX) – The Chick-Fil-A in Des Peres was packed today, full of people who say they want to support the owner’s right to believe whatever he wants.
At lunch time, the line was out the door, and the drive-thru line snaked around the parking lot.
One patron, Terry Dean, says she agrees with the head of the company who said he didn’t approve of same sex marraige.
“I heard there was a group that were against the traditional family that were boycotting Chick-Fil-A,” she said. “And I do eat here from time to time but not generally at lunch so I am making a special trip to get a double order.”
The restaurant was packed, but customers speculated there must have been extra staff on site because no one said they waited more than ten minutes for their food.
The idea of an August 1 “Chick Fil-A Appreciation Day” stemmed from former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee in response to protests aimed to Chick-Fil-A and its president, Dan Cathy.
“I pray God’s mercy on our generation that has such a prideful, arrogant attitude to think we would have the audacity to try to redefine what marriage is about,” Cathy said a couple weeks ago.
