Florissant Police Chief To Retire

FLORISSANT, MO (KMOX) – Florissant’s police chief is retiring, effective December 31, 2012.

Mayor Tom Schneider’s office issued a release this morning, saying William Karabas informed him of his decision in March, but asked that it not be released until today.

Karabas has worked 52 years in law enforcement.

Karabas has been the chief in Florissant for the last 11 years.  He previously served as police chief in Brentwood, Cool Valley and at the University of Missouri-St. Louis.

He has served as Vice-Chairman of the Greater St. Louis Major Case Squad, committee member of LEPAC and a life member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, Missouri Police Chiefs Association and the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy.
