ST. LOUIS (KMOX)-Last week’s gunplay on Highland Avenue in St. Louis has claimed another young life.

Police say that 18-year-old Aniya Cook died Friday evening, of a gunshot wound to the face suffered early Tuesday morning. Police say she was hit when someone opened fire on the car she was in in the 5100 block of Highland.

Investigators believe that shooting was in retaliation following a Monday night gun battle in the 5200 block of Highland that claimed the life of 19-year-old Alfonzia Williams. He was shot in the face, abdomen and the arm.

A 20-year-old man was shot in an arm and a 16-year-old boy was shot in the buttocks in the exchange of gunfire. The 20-year-old was taken into custody but charges weren’t filed, because police say, witnesses gave conflicting accounts of what happened.
