ST. PETERS, Mo. (KMOX)- A mass shooting at the Sikh temple of Wisconsin is leaving a local temple afraid.

Sikh Study Circle in St. Peters has around 600 members in its community, compared to the temple in Wisconsin that has 400.

Sikh Study Circle’s vice president, Sukchain Singh says it was during service this morning when a friend told him about the breaking news. He says the shooting is frightening.

“You know, we are scared,” Singh says. “Anybody can come (in the temple) with a gun anytime.”

Singh says the members of the Sikh Study Circle are just like anyone else.

“We live in this country, we work hard to make our living,” he says.

Singh says the government should take serious action for this crime, and that he and his community are praying for the victims and their families.

“God bless these families and the people who are dead,” Singh says.
