ST. LOUIS (KMOX/AP)- Chicago has seen more than two times as many bank robberies as St. Louis so far this year.
The FBI says the robbery of two Chicago-area banks has pushed the number of financial institutions robbed this year to 116, one more than last year’s entire total.
FBI St. Louis Division’s Public Affairs Specialist, Rebecca Wu says as of Tuesday, they have had 42 bank robberies, which covers the entire eastern part of Missouri, and thirty-one of those cases have been solved. Compared to the same time last year, which had 43 bank robberies.
FBI spokeswoman Joan Hyde told the Chicago Tribune the 115 banks robbed last year was well below the 284 Chicago-area banks that were robbed in 2006.
